Overview

The Building Permits module is used to create, maintain and track building permits and applications. When set up properly, the BP module can automate many of the inspection and permitting processes. The module's robust reporting options allow you to accurately track permitting history from application to final inspection. Because the new Version 7 inspection step-based system is very flexible and open-ended, it can be easily customized to work well with your organization's unique needs and business processes.

Permit Types

A Permit Type is a permit template consisting of a collection of approval steps, valuation units, fee codes, forms, and other miscellaneous information that are all used in conjunction with a particular type of permit. By creating a number of permit types, you can attach the permit type to each new permit you create instead of having to attach approval steps, fee codes, forms, and other info to each new permit created. The use of Permit Types makes the creation of permits much more efficient.

Valuation Unit Type Codes

Valuation Unit Type Codes are used to calculate the Project Cost of an application or permit. Valuations could include things like square footage for an addition, length of a new fence, or number of plumbing fixtures in a new apartment building. By attaching general valuation units to your permit type templates, applications and permits for a broad range of project sizes can be created quickly and accurately.

Inspection Types

Inspection Types are attached to permit types and permits to ensure that each permit meets all the locally required codes and regulations. These Inspection Types can be set up to assign inspection tasks, track inspection progress, apply fees to the permit, and automatically update the permit status accordingly.

The new Springbrook Scheduling System allows you to quickly schedule permit inspection type appointments and assign them to inspectors. The scheduling process is designed to meet the scheduling needs of a wide range of organizations. This flexibility provides a high level of freedom when scheduling appointments.
